Apprehension

I was so excited when I realized that today I worked through something that I was really uneasy with.

Jared asked me to assist him with a wisdom tooth extraction case. Normally, I don't mind assisting him with dental cases and I enjoy feeling needed in "his world" but today was a little different... a little more intense... a little more surgical.

It was all I could do to look at where we were working. I had to remind myself to keep breathing as he worked on removing 4 impacted teeth with such expertise. I did the best I could as I forced myself to see where to hold the suction. Turned out, it was disturbing yet fascinating at the same time.

Yes, there is a reason why I majored in business and computers. No blood and guts there (literally speaking). Special thanks and appreciation to Whitney and Lindsey for being great dental assistants so I don't have to ;-)

Limited Availability

This post is dedicated to all those people that feel the need to hit all the stores before 7 am the day after Thanksgiving. GOOD LUCK!!!

I will be thinking of you as I sink further down into my warm covers on a soft bed as you wait in line beginning at 5:00 am (maybe 4:00 am) in the cold for something that caught your eye in an ad.

By the way, did you see the small asterisk next to the item that leads to the words "Limited Availability?" Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and the store will put 10 instead of 5 of the item.

A Tale of Two Cities

I called Erica at 8:38 this morning...
"So I was wondering if you wanted to postpone," I said

"Postpone?" EricaI asked. "Why?" We had plans to meet up for lunch today for a birthday lunch.

"Didn't you look outside?" I asked?

"Yeah, I did. I don't think it's a big deal," Erica answered.

"What?" I said. "You must not be looking at the same thing I'm looking at. We got slammed this morning. There's enough to shovel. The line to get the kids to school was out of the parking lot and down the street. They weren't even counting tardies this morning."

Erica looked out her window and said, "I can still see my grass. There's maybe only a dusting on my lawn."

"That's it," I announced. "I'm going outside to measure what we got on my back porch in my bare feet... never mind... I'm just doing it from my stairs." I got a ruler, went and stuck it in the snow and exclaimed, "Oh my! 4 and a half inches!!"

"Huh?" Erica said. "4 and a half inches?" Yeah, we didn't get that at all. But last night when She and Stan were watching the weather the weatherman was talking about lake effect snow and Stan looked at her and said, "Sandy." He's right.

I laughed and said, "We should both go right now and take a picture of our front yards and post them on our blogs the exact same to show what a difference just 30 miles can make." Erica loved the idea, so that's what we did!

I can make a costume!

My mistake was thinking you had to be a really good seamstress to make a Halloween costume. Did I prove myself wrong this year.Jeremy couldn't think of what he wanted to be this year and he kept bugging me to be a Wendy's cup. The idea came from when my brother Nick worked for Quizno's before his mission and for Halloween borrowed the inflatable cup costume. Jeremy thought it was so cool. I finally gave in the day before he was to dress up at school. Thanks to Dad's idea of using a garbage can, some pipe insulation, spray paint and a Wendy's print out from the internet.

The other costume highlight was the fangs that Jared put on my teeth. This is the second year he has done this. It's just some composite that he formed and bonded to my teeth. The reactions I received were so funny. If you are interested in some fangs to celebrate the Twilight movie, let me know ;-)

We had a great time carving the pumpkins and decorating the yard

Because there was no school on Halloween we celebrated for 2 days and in the end everyone had a lot of fun, ended up with a lot of candy and we were all worn out.
